The Dark Energy Camera (DECam) atop the Víctor M. Blanco Telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile captured the stellar image as part of The Dark Energy Survey, a project searching the universe for evidence of dark energy. Astronomers believe that dark energy is the force accelerating the expansion of the universe. They look for evidence of it in images like this one by studying how distant objects move in space....

A new startup company called Trove (not affiliated with the news aggregation site of the same name) wants things to be different. By leveraging 3D printing, every piece of jewelry the company produces is custom and user-created. “Every single thing is made to order,” Andrew Hong, co-founder of Trove said. “Every one of these [pieces] is individual.” The way Trove works for users is simple: you log onto the website, select what base model of jewelry you want to customize, like ring or necklace, and then use sliders to shape your piece....

It was designed by Phillipe Starck and is made solely out of aluminum. That metal choice makes it lighter and quicker than your everyday yacht, but we don’t have video of it in action quite yet. To thank the shipbuilders for six years of work, the Jobs family gave each of the team members an iPod Shuffle with the word “Venus” engraved into it....
